Celebrating Canadian Agriculture on Canada’s Agriculture Day - Kindred Credit Union

February 11 is Canada’s Agriculture Day—a wonderful chance to celebrate the dedication of Canadian farmers and everyone who plays a part in bringing food to our tables. Agriculture sustains us all and this day gives us an opportunity to appreciate the hard work behind the food we enjoy, spark positive conversations about farming, and build connections between producers and consumers.

For me, agriculture is more than a career—it’s part of my heart. My family has been farming in Waterloo County for seven generations, and currently run a dairy farm and commodities business. Growing up surrounded by the joys and challenges of farm life taught me so much about resilience, resourcefulness, and the importance of community. That’s why I’ve spent 20+ years in agricultural banking and why joining @Kindred Credit Union in 2023 felt like coming home.

At Kindred, I’m honoured to lead a team that genuinely understands agriculture. Many of our Account Managers grew up on farms or are farmers themselves, so they truly get it. They know the rhythm of farm life and the unique challenges farmers face. This deep connection allows us to offer advice and solutions that are not only practical but also deeply personal. We don’t just provide business accounts, lines of credit or agricultural mortgages—we’re here to walk alongside our members as trusted partners helping them bring their goals and dreams to life.

One of the things I love most about Kindred is how we align values and faith with finances. Farmers trust us to help them achieve their goals while staying rooted in what matters most to them. Whether it’s supporting a young farmer getting started or helping a family business navigate a generational transition, we’re here to help.

As a 4-H leader, agricultural society member, and farmer’s daughter, I’ve always been inspired by the strength and generosity of Canadian farmers. At Kindred, I’m surrounded by people who share that same passion for agriculture and community. It’s a privilege to partner with farmers to help their businesses grow while staying true to their values. Agriculture truly connects us all, and I’m so grateful to be part of this vibrant community.

Canada’s Agriculture Day is a time to celebrate these connections and the incredible contributions of the agricultural sector. It’s also an opportunity to look ahead at the important role farmers play in keeping homegrown, quality food on our tables building a strong future for the industry.

This year, I encourage you to join the #CdnAgDay conversation, share a meal, or learn a little more about where your food comes from. Together, let’s celebrate the people who keep our plates full and our communities thriving.
