Across our branch communities, staff gave their time and energy to support local initiatives addressing hurt, hunger, and homelessness. Together, we raised $18,050 in support of agencies that walk alongside individuals and families facing challenging circumstances. The agencies we supported were:
| Kindred Branch | Community Organization |
| Aylmer | Youth Unlimited/YFC Elgin County in St. Thomas |
| Elmira | Woolwich Community Services |
| Milverton | Shelterlink Youth Services |
| Leamington | Leamington Community Hope Centre |
| New Hamburg | Wilmot & Wellesley Resource Centre |
| Kitchener | Ray of Hope Community Centre |
| Waterloo | Supportive Housing of Waterloo |
| Mount Forest |
These organizations provide practical help such as warm meals, safe shelter, and caring support, providing community members with dignity and support. “Taking part in the Coldest Night of the Year walk was a meaningful way to stand alongside neighbours who face much harsher realities every day,” commented Kathy Elliott, Community Engagement Specialist at Kindred. “What made me especially proud is that caring for our community isn’t just something we say at Kindred; it’s something we live. We live it one step at a time—even the chilly ones.”
For all of us at Kindred, this was more than a single evening outdoors. It was a tangible expression of who we are. Kindred’s purpose is cooperative banking that connects values and faith with finances, inspiring peaceful, just, and prosperous communities. That purpose calls us beyond transactions and into relationships. It invites us to notice where needs exist, and to respond with compassion.
We are grateful for each team member who bundled up and participated. Your willingness to give of yourselves reflects the very best of cooperative spirit. You demonstrated integrity in action, compassion in practice, and stewardship in service of others.
To our community partners, thank you for the vital work you do every day. We are honoured to support you.
And to our members and neighbours, thank you for being part of a community that believes in caring for one another. Together, we continue to help build communities where everyone can experience belonging and wellbeing.
