Kindred Credit Union offers Community Inspiration GIC to expand community impact to Congregations and Charities across Ontario

1 minute read

Kindred Credit Union is launching a brand new GIC to expand its community impact for congregations and charities across Ontario. Known as the Community Inspiration GIC, this new product replaces the Church Builder GIC, which has raised more than $890,000 for Ontario churches and church-based charities since its inception in 1997.

The Community Inspiration GIC continues to offer members a competitive interest rate and in return, Kindred donates 0.25% bonus interest to the congregation or qualifying charity of their choice. Recipients of bonus interest must be a congregation or an Ontario-based charity, registered with the CRA, and with a focus on community food security, safe and affordable housing, or financial empowerment.

“We’re excited to expand the impact of our Community Inspiration GIC by extending the bonus interest opportunity to local charities addressing issues that align with Kindred’s Community Inspiration Framework,” notes Ian Thomas, Kindred’s Chief Executive Officer. “We are equally pleased that this new product also expands the investment options of investors by making the Community Inspiration GIC available for non-registered and registered GICs such as RRSPs, TFSAs and RRIFs.”

The Community Inspiration GIC will be available until June 30. Learn more about Community Inspiration GICs at kindredcu.com/CI-GIC.
