The Most Read Stories of 2025 - Woman reading newspaper

As 2025 draws to a close, it's time to take a look back over the year in Kindred Connects news, insights, and advice to see which headlines resonated the most with our readers.

As always, many of the stories that received the most engaged responses from readers were those posts about Kindred staff, our members, and our partners participating in events and helping others in the community. From helping build a Shaputuan (a traditional Indigenous gathering space) at Crow Shield Lodge, and sleeping outdoors for the Coldest Night of the Year, to providing over 6,500 meals to those experiencing hunger, you can read about those community impact activities and more in our year in review.

Along with a high-level of interest in local community engagement, it turns out that international relations, interest rates changes, and household finances were also top of mind this year.

Here are some of our most read stories of 2025

The most popular article from Kindred Credit Union came in February, when our Chief Financial Officer John Klassen offered his thoughts on the growing trade dispute between Canada and the United States.

A close second, with almost as many readers was another news story. With the current real-estate market and continuing economic turmoil on people's minds, a timely piece about the changing interest rates from the BOC captured many readers' attention.

Our third top news story of the year was also by John Klassen. Our CFO weighed in on the much discussed, but often misunderstood, topic of cryptocurrencies.

Personal finances were also much on the minds of our readers in 2025. Many of our most-read stories that weren't breaking news pieces were related to managing household expenses and saving money for the future. These were our top three finance posts of the year.
